Welcome to the 2011/12 hockey league season, to players both old and new, to what should be as an exciting and hopefully successful season as 2010/11.

Last season was the clubs most successful ever, with the Men's 1st and 3rd teams and the Ladies' 2nd and 3rd teams all gaining promotion into the highest leagues that they have all ever competed in.

We now have the Men's 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th teams playing in Premier Division 1, South Division 1, South Division 2 and South East Division 2 respectively and the Ladies' 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams playing in Central Division, Petroc Division 1 and Sedgemoor Division 2. We also have a Men's 5th/development team playing friendlies at present which is looking to be playing league hockey in the near future.

One of the most pleasant aspects for this new season is the willingness of  players prepared to take over captaincies in both the men and ladies teams. I wish you all good luck and also thanks to all the other members of the committee who have continued in their roles from last year.

The success of any club relies on new blood as every year players retire, move or just slip away. If you are a player who is new to the game or just moved to the area please come along to our training nights as detailed on the web site and join in with the club not just for the hockey but also the social side of our teams.

We currently run a well organised youth section playing in their own competitions and leagues, from which several players have successfully moved up to County, West and National age group squads, as well as adult hockey within the club.
